Columbia, Nike and other Oregon companies oppose same-sex marriage ban

Columbia Sportswear, Nike and 34 other Oregon-based companies have asked the US District Court to overturn Oregon’s same-sex marriage ban. They say that their businesses are disadvantaged by the legislation as it restricts them in finding the best employee talent possible to compete at both a national and international level. The companies expressed their point of view in a  “friend of court” brief asking the court to overturn the ban.  Such “friends of the court” briefs are submitted by those who aren’t party to a lawsuit, but want to express an interest in the outcome of a case.
