Oxylane, the company behind Décathlon, the world’s largest integrated sporting goods retailer, has announced a sales increase of 6.1 percent in 2013 to €7.4 billion before VAT compared with the previous year when the French company lifted its turnover by 7.2 percent . In both years, like-to-like sales increased by 1.3 percent. Altogether, the chain opened 74 stores (including the first two openings in Bulgaria meaning that Décathlon is now operational in 20 countries). In terms of sales, 41.8 percent of the company’s business is done in the French market, the rest on the international stage. In France, the chain now counts 258 stores (+3 in 2013), 100 in Spain (+2) and 89 in Itlay (+4).
