Shortly after the success of Meb Keflezighi at the Boston marathon which was supported by Skechers footwear, the Californian company is eyeing further opportunities to invest in top sports. Skechers has announced that it is exploring opportunities to rally investors to buy a strategic interest in Los Angeles Clippers. The basketball team has been troubled by its current owner, Donald Sterling, and his racist remarks which caused an uproar in the U.S. sports world and beyond. The National Basketball Association is currently looking for means to force Sterling to sell the club. Skechers did not say at this point, though, how large the investment of the brand itself and of its potential partners could be. As of now, the Clippers’ official kit supplier is Adidas, a company which, as reported, made clear that it would stick to it’s sponsoring agreement after Sterling’s ban from the NBA.
