Jack Wolfskin parts with Globetrotter for e-commerce management – but continues other business

After almost a decade-long online alliance, Jack Wolfskin will no longer use Hamburg-based specialty outdoor retailer Globetrotter Ausrüstung to run its web shop. From the end of August, the “Paw” brand will incorporate internet retailing into its own strategy. This is for two reasons: Firstly, Jack Wolfskin is looking for a higher degree of internationalization in general and in particular for its e-commerce sector. To date, Globetrotter has largely dealt with orders originating in Germany and Austria. And so it now makes sense for Germany’s leading outdoor brand not only to manage its own site, but also to take charge of logistics, service and order fulfillment. Secondly, Jack Wolfskin is looking for ways to take the multi-channel retail opportunities that exist between online sales and its network of franchised stores to a higher level.

We are happy that we will continue to offer the wide range of Jack Wolfskin products to our Globetrotter customers.”

Thomas Lipke, managing partner, Globetrotter Ausrüstung

Both parties emphasize that the outdoor manufacturer’s strategic move will not affect any other aspects of the business relationship: Globetrotter will continue to operate the three franchised Wolfskin stores in Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne. On top of that, the chain sees no change in future offerings of Paw-branded products on its website or in its bricks-and-mortar outlets.
