Nike outjumps Under Armour in the race for Kevin Durant

durant_2The Swoosh brand must have been quite busy over the labor day weekend working to renew its sponsorship agreement with basketball superstar Kevin Durant – this year’s most valuable player in the NBA. As reported, Under Armour attempted to bring Durant into its own family of sponsored athletes with an offer worth $265-285 million, but Nike is obviously determined to keep the player, who signed up with the company in 2007. Although the contract was up for renewal, Nike was not willing to let UA’s move pass and offered an amount substantially higher than the competitor’s offer. Some reports say that Durant will now earn between $300-350 million over the next ten years.
