During a press conference yesterday in the Chinese capital, Tobias Gröber, business unit director for consumer goods at Messe München, said that this year’s ISPO BEIJING will break another record in terms of the number of exhibiting companies. The show started today and will run through until Saturday, Jan 31. It hosts 434 exhibitors representing 656 brands. This means an increase of 1 percent and 3 percent, respectively, compared with last year. New or returning brands appearing in Beijing include, among others, La Sportiva, Craft, Swix and Thule.
The 2015 edition of the trade show is a special one because it will not be the only show, but one of two ISPOs taking place in China this year. ISPO SHANGHAI, which will run from July 2-4 is the complimentary summer offer to this week’s winter show. Rolf Schmid, president of the European Outdoor Group, emphasized that the market needs a summer show and that it is critical for it to be organized by only one partner. ISPO SHANGHAI is described as a multi-segment show with a focus on fitness, water sports, sports style, outdoor and action sports.
