Lowa outlines ambitious plans for China

At ISPO BEIJING, which ends tomorrow, Werner Riethmann, managing partner of outdoor footwear manufacturer Lowa, confirmed his ambitions for the Chinese market. Currently, the company has 60 single-brand stores around the country. The target by the end of next year is to increase this to 100 outlets. According to Riethmann, 10 percent of annual production should be sold into China in five-years time. Currently, Lowa manufactures, exclusively in Europe, more than 2.2 million pairs of shoes. The Chinese business is run by B.C. Sports which handles the regional business also for Austrian outdoor brand Northland and polemaker Leki. At the trade show, B.C. is also presenting its new partner in the outdoor sector, Halti of Finland.
