Intersport posts moderate growth & appoints new chief buyer

The Central European section of Intersport organizations made up of Germany, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary hit retail sales of €3.39 billion. While the 156 Austrian retailers remained on par with last year, the German retailers raised sales by 2 percent to €2.85 billion. In Germany, retail space grew by 13,000 squares meters over the year 2013.

At the Ispo fair, Kim Roether, chief executive of Intersport Germany, introduced the new member of the executive board in charge of purchasing and the marketplace: Jochen Schnell. For the last ten years, Schell has been managing director at Sport Voswinkel, the chain which is entirely owned by the buying group. He replaces Klaus Jost who left the organization in early November after more than 13 years at the helm of German Intersport.
