Textilwirtschaft reports that German apparel and fabric manufacturers saw business rise by 2.1 percent in 2014 compared to the previous year. The Federation of Producers’ original estimate was 1.8 percent. While the industry faced massive drops in trade with Russia and the Ukraine, the effect was offset by a satisfactory evolution within the euro zone.
The Federal Statistics Office claims the industry had revenues of €17 billion in total, €10 billion of which was for fabrics and the remainder for finished garments. This estimate however, is based on companies with more than 50 employees. The estimate for the entire business is thought to be around the €28 billion mark.
