The Swedish outdoor brand Haglöfs is starting a new project on the ISPO OPEN INNOVATION platform together with the high-tech fabric and apparel manufacturer TORAY. The goal is to develop a versatile Haglöfs jacket based on TORAY’s insulation technology. This will be done in collaboration with 70 chosen test persons.
The prototype sets new standards
The prototype jackets given to the testers are a combination of a traditional, synthetic insulation jacket and a fleece midlayer, with a high ration of protection to weight. Thanks to the extremely flexible material the jacket adapts to any movement, direct ventilation provides great breathability and its heat retention makes the jacket the best in its class. The combination of all these features results in a very comfortable feeling – without the negative aspects of a traditional synthetic insulation.
Application and test process
Any outdoor enthusiast can become one of the 70 testers to receive a prototype for testing in everyday life. In the course of this crowdsourcing project the testers will discuss the product development with Haglöfs, the brand’s top athletes, professional mountain guides and the retail partners. This will provide interesting insights into the development process of functional outdoor garments. At the end of the development process each tester is allowed to keep the jacket or is given a comparable garment from the latest collection.
