Amer Sports, the Finnish group behind brands such as Precor, Atomic, Salomon, Suunto, Arc’teryx and others, is investing in digital connectivity. Today, it announced its acquisition of Sports Tracker, a company that specializes in online services and digital sports applications. The latest takeover is said to be complementary with the existing family of the group’s “Digital Ecosystem” of smart sensors, connected devices and e-commerce.
The move is one of the latest by large sporting goods companies to provide digital services to the sporting community. Most recently, as reported, the most active company shopping for specialty digital providers to feed and/or create sports communities has been Under Armour.
