BSI, the German Sports Goods Manufacturers Association, has joined the governmental initiative Bündnis für nachhaltige Textilien (“alliance for sustainable textiles”). It is also encouraging its members to do the same.
The federation is following the invitation of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development to join forces for increased corporate social responsibility both in regard to social and ecological requirements. Both BSI itself and a wide range of fashion and sporting goods brands have been collecting experience in their cooperation with various non-governmental organizations working in the field of CSR.
Therefore, it was a logical step to support the first initiative of this type at a governmental level. Individual companies have already given their commitment to the effort, including Adidas, Deuter, Ortovox, Puma, Vaude and, most recently, Schöffel. Also larger retailers such as C&A, H&M and Otto have promised to participate.
