In its financial year 2014-15 ended June 30, the entire Uvex Group and its two units, safety and sports, increase their respective sales by 6 percent compared with the previous year. The German manufacturer of helmets, eyewear and safety equipment reached total sales of €387 million.
Uvex Sports Group managed to lift its sales to €117.2 million in spite of a mild winter in many key regions. This was offset by strong sales of horse-riding and bike helmets by the Uvex and Alpina brands and Filtral-labeled eyewear.
Uvex Safety represents 71 percent of total group turnover and reached €276.3 million. Its business was, according to company information, negatively impacted by economic sanctions on Russia and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, as well as currency effects in key markets including South Africa and Australia. In return, it managed to grow strongly in the German-speaking countries and Western Europe.
